Transfer Students
What is a Transfer student?
Transfer students include any student who has completed high school and enrolled in college for at least one term.
Students who have taken college coursework while attending high school are not considered transfer students, but instead first-year applicants.
Some students choose to attend a community college, fulfill general education requirements, then transfer to a four-year institution. This option can be more cost-effective. Other students are unhappy at their current school and want to transfer to another college. At Lizard, we have experience with all types of transfer students. We are here to help!

Applications
With transfer applicants, the biggest emphasis is on the grades you received in your current college. Course selection is also extremely important! Not all course credit may transfer.
We help with the following:
- Advising on which courses to take to give you the best chance of getting into your intended university
- Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) requirements
- Applying to a major

Essays
At Lizard, we listen to our student’s stories and work with you to consider possible topics. We help you devise a plan to write the essay, provide samples to review, and guide you through the entire process.

Interview Prep & Resumes
We prepare students throughout the year for college interviews, summer programs, internships, and jobs. We assist with research, questions, body language, and thoughtful responses.
We also craft one-page resumes that are modern and impactful.

Financial Aid/Scholarships
One of the most well-known stressors in college admissions is navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities. At Lizard, we help students submit a FAFSA/CSS profile if they choose to do so. Additionally, we compile charts specific to your college list containing scholarship information, deadlines, and requirements.

Career Advising
Many students are stumped when it comes to choosing a major. Additionally, many students graduate college with a degree that they don’t know how to apply to a specific field.
At Lizard, we advise students on career paths and inform our students of the career prospects for specific occupational choices. We also have helped many students transfer from community college to a four-year institution.
